Anger!
There is an incident recorded in Chinese Literature about 2200 years ago.
A man would lose his temper on very trivial issues and wanted to control his anger. He was told to meet Bokoju, a famous saint known to cure such ailments.
Bokoju called him at a specific time. When the man reached there, sharp at the atime allotted, he was asked to wait as Bokoju was in meditation. After a few minutes the man got annoyed. "I was asked to come at 3 o' clock. inform Bokoju that I am waiting." "No", replied Bokoju`s disciples, "We cannot disturb his meditation." After a few hours the man got frustrated.
Nobody seemed to be taking any notice of him. Conseqquently, he became angry and started shouting. Still unnoticed, he became so furious that he broke the flower pots, threw his chair, damaged the doors and crashed into Bkoju`s room.
Bokoju was sitting calmly. "I wanted to meet you to control my anger, but you have made me wait for endless hours and your people have made me angry." The man told him.
Anger is the most inappropriate release of human energy and invariable resuts in spoiling the inner self and outer relationships.
"First, you go out and ask for forgiveness from the flower pots, from the chair, from the door and then come to see me", Bokoju ordered him firmly.
"Forgiveness from a door? From a chair? From a flower pot?...... What are you saying? How can i ask for frgiveness from dead things? They can`t reply."
"You should hav ethought of this before you mistreated them. They are dead things, they can`t reply, they can`t sense, then can`t understand", said Bokoju as the man stod in repentance.
Having understood the moral of the incident, he realised the futility of anger. He thanked Bokoju and walked out a changed man.
Anger is an enourmus waste of potentially positive energy. It is just one letter short of Danger!
Anger begins with foolishness and ends with repentance.
