This is one of my favorite poems that I have written. I tend to write down random thoughts, which is how this began, and sometimes they evolve into poems. Anyway, hope you like it...
You taught me to let go of the pain
That’d been wrapped around my life
To take in all the simple pleasures
That’d make everything alright
You showed me how to spread my wings
To never look back down
I tried to perfect myself for you
As long as you stayed around
You helped me learn to smile again
Picked me up when I fell
You never promised me forever
But in your eyes, I could tell
You taught me to live life again
To be a happier me
And in return, I gave myself
For you, and eternity
But I wasn’t enough for you
I guess I had to learn
That love’s few fleeting moments
Were all I ever earned
You never promised me forever
I suppose I should have known
That love was not meant for everyone
That’s why I’m left alone
